Thanks!

The first International Urban Sound Symposium was held on 3-5 April 2019 in Het Pand, the convention center of Ghent University, located in the historical city center of Ghent, Belgium. The symposium brought together more than one hundred practitioners and experts that are confronted with urban sound in their professional activities. The program included invited plenary talks by eminent researchers from around the world, panel discussions, and contributed talks in the form of a 2-minute pitch in front of the plenary audience.

New: slides of selected plenary presentations are now available for download on the program page.

In parallel to the symposium, the first Soundscape Hackathon was organized in De Krook, the new media centre of Ghent. During three days, 4 teams of acousticians, programmers and artists from all over Europe competed in designing a more suitable soundscape for open public places in a range of cities worldwide, and developed virtual reality and auralisation methods for demonstrating their designs to lay persons and professionals.
